Worcester Norton Shooting Club

Shooting Disciplines

The world of shooting sports encompasses a great variety of activities from short range target shooting to big game hunting.

A shooting sport is a competitive sport involving tests of proficiency (accuracy and speed) using various types of guns such as firearms and airguns. Hunting is also a shooting sport, and indeed shooting live pigeons was an Olympic event (only once, in 1900). The shooting sports are categorised by the type of firearm or target used.

Club members participate in most of the shooting disciplines permitted in the UK. They benefit from being able to develop and hone their skills in a safe and friendly environment. The pages in this section of the site describe the most popular shooting sports encountered at WNSC.

Original 20yd Airgun Range
As with all shooting activities at the WNSC, safety is the primary concern on the Airgun range. Especially since it provides an introduction to our sport for many young shooters. The range has been constructed to the highest standards and offers a safe and controlled environment for air target shooting.

To shoot beyond 50yds we must travel to other locations. WNSC members have been known to compete at Severnside, Kingsbury, Mattersey and Bisley to name just a few.
